92 F150 problems

My son has a 92 F150 with a 302. I have installed a fuel filter, coil, fuel pressure regulator, O2 sensor, plugs, wires, cap and distributor cap and still have a problem. It misses and acts as though it's starving for air but the air filter is ok. it stalls at anytime. pulling out, idling and has very poor acceleration. This problem happened all of the sudden. It has about 140,000 miles. Any help is appreciated. btw it has an auto trans.

Does it have dual fuel tanks? If so, does it act up on both tanks? Sounds to me like a weak fuel pump. Check fuel pressure at the fitting on the fuel rail.

Is the check engine light on? Even if not, wouldn't be a bad idea to check for codes.

Do you have a hard time starting it after it sits for a while? Does it seem to want to stall if you give it too much gas? This problem sounds really familiar to me. I had a chevy truck that did the exact same thing. It needed either to start, and I would have to rev it to keep it running until it warmed up. Once warm and I pulled out of the driveway, it had no power and wanted to stall if I did anything but feather the gas. I tried everything, filter, cap, rotor, wires plugs, new air filter to no avail. I was about to give up but I was told to replace the fuel pump. Dropped the tank and replaced it and my problem was gone. If I were you I would check the fuel pressure. I would bet your fuel pump(s) arent getting power or are bad. Im not sure if there is a fuse for the pumps under the hood in the fuse box or under the dash in the fuse box or even one for it at all. Check and see if there is a fuse for the pumps and if its bad. If there is one and its bad, replace it and see if your problem is solved. If not I would then check the fuel pressure. Im not sure what the correct PSI is for these trucks but Im sure someone one here does. Good luck and tell us what happens.

You'd like close to 40 psi closed throttle and 32-35 wide open. From your description, I'd wager its definitely a fuel issue.

If it is not fuel, and an ignition component is puking on you. You'd likely have some codes stored in the CM.

Check www.fordfuelinjection.com on how to pull trouble codes.

Good Luck

Mike

Sorry you have it backwards.
At idle 32-35 PSI and 40-42 WOT.
