I took off the cruise control assembly off of my 1985 F-150 to clean it up and repaint it. I think I might have a vacuum hose missing. This might be a silly question, but does the cruise control need to be hooked up to engine vacuum or some sort of a resorvoir to work?
On the metal side of the cruise control assembly, there is two-prong vacuum plug that has a small molded "C" shaped vacuum hose that goes from one port and over the top of the assembly to attach to the top front of the plastic part of the cruise control assembly. As for the second prong, it has a long hose attached to it that goes toward the back of the truck to the firewall and into the cab under the dash. I have another vacuum port on the plastic part of the cruise control assembly on the top but toward the back, but nothing is attached to it. Anyone have any ideas? Does some sort of vacuum hose go here?
I will have to look at mine tommorow. But do you hear any vacum leaks anywhere?
I think it is a vacum diaphram deal the one that goes inside is the brake pedal disconnect. The other should go to the manifold. Maybe someone else will know otherwise I'll check mine in the daylight.
thats the one that goes the vacume tree on the back of your engine. my power brake booster also hooks up there. yeah, you must have an extra vacuum hose laying around somewhere. i remember once mine came off and the truck run really bad. you must have had one on there to start with, otherwise you would have noticed it. atleast thats the way it works on mine.
