A customer's truck i have been working on came to me with a problem, his truck has recently not been starting once it has reached operating temp (over 190* oil/water) and then shuts it off. He has to let it cool down for about 1.5-2 hours before it will start again. I hooked up my Autoenginuity and found no engine-related Pxxxx codes, nor did i find any sensors/pressures out of range. It makes ~280psi of ICP when cranking, when it calls for 650, so the computer says. Any ideas? thanks.
If it was a 7.3 i would know what the fix would be.. However on the 6.0 i am "still learning". Could someone please educate me on where this connector is?
The 05's were Notorious for High pressure Oil pump problems and The STC fitting off of the pump itself that connects to the branch tube Had a High failure rate.
I believe the main issue was the vibration at the STC fitting causing sealing failures. I had it happen to me. Techy told me that the bracket they install as per the TSB will prevent the reoccurance.
does anyone know of an issue with the 04's .. mine is starting to get hard to start after it sits and i'm suspecting HPOP since that sounds like it could be why i have to crank so long to start lately. it's been getting worse and worse.
Can anyone give me a textual picture (lol) of where it may be so i can identify it tomorrow when i see his truck? How hard would it be to install the sensor and bracket?
