i have a flag flying 24/7 here and at the house upstate. we have lights on them for the evening time
9/11 was a horrible event and we each have our scars from it. I hope this country never forgets no matter how much the "turn the other cheek liberals" among us feel we should let it go
i didn't get the opportunity to do more.. i tore up my knee like a week before the recruiter talked to me which means they don't want me. if i'd tore my acl after i'd signed the papers they wld have taken me.
so basically, i do what i can when i can because there's not much else i can do...
Have you ever did something to make and/or keep America better then the other countries. God bless the brave men and women in uniform but that's not the only thing that needs doing. Soldiers have done their part now how about the rest of the citisenry keep up their part. I could give all kinds of example but in short participate in this country. If you want America to continue to be the best nation then do something about it. Don't just fly your flag and expect some one else to pick up the slack. I you fly a flag that all good and dandy, but if you don't put any actions behind it, then it's worthless.

well i'l respond since i have a feeling this was directed at me...
I have concidered joining the Armed forces, however, there are several things standing in my way.
First off; im 16 years old
Second off; once i am 18, im in the same position as ford4life. ive messed up my knee more times than i can count. Torn cartilidge (to the point where i have almost none left, and if i move wrong, bone grinds against bone, not a pretty feeling) ive torn my miniscus, ive ripped my ACL, ive had stress fractures, as well as shattered part of it (the boney part on the inside of the knee, i cant remember what its called). so therfore any chance of a military career is pretty much out the window.
so since i cant and probably never will be able to serve in the armed forces, i try to do all i can here at home. My prefered future career choice is in law enforcement, provided i can pass the physical inspections with the aforementioned knee problems.
and what sort of "actions" would you sujest i take? my 2 construction jobs provide housing for American citizens, as well as adding to the local and national ecconomy. as ive stated in other threads, i rarely if ever buy products not manufactured in the US, with the most common exception being Canada (and up here in WA lots of canadian/american transactions take place, so it all cycles back through anyway) so i support American businesses more than most people out there
what other actions would you have me take?
and how about putting your own money where your mouth is, what do you do? are you a member of any branch of the US military? how do you take "action" for our country?

My flag is up seven days a week. Every day I go outside and see it, I feel a pride in knowing that I live in one of the greatest countries on the planet... even though we do have a lot of improving to do. I've served my time. I've worked my life long. I've helped others and have been helped BY others.
So... I think if one needs to put his words to actions...so be it. Get-R- Done guys. I try to impart my learned experiences on to others, in hopes they don't make the same mistakes I did. Bout all I can physically do anymore, is share what I do know.
So.. Rusty... what've you done lately? Just thought I'd ask, seeing as ya brought it up.
My uncle was one of the people running from the cloud of dust, he was almost killed that day. Im happy to say ive seen those towers before they were brought down for whatever reason.
I remember the first time i saw them. I was so young, it was raining that day and as i looked up at the clouds the buildings just ran off into the clouds, couldnt see the top of them from the ground.
I fly my American flag year round on front of my garage, along side a Bonnie Blue, and a Confederate battle flag, they're under a light so they stay in place year round.
I have a spare American flag on standby should mine become tattered or torn, in which case its retired to ashes in a proper ceremony held monthly by the local VFW.
I'm a proud American by birth, and a tax payer for gods sake, I have nothing to prove to anyone. I'll fight and die to protect my land and causes I believe in. My flags fly because I'm proud of what they stand for, In these pathetic times pride is something they cant take away from me.
Just becuase you fly a flag doesn't mean a dang thing. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is.
Yeah and I know I'm going to get flamed for saying it how it is.
How it is? You said nothing ..... unless you have some knowledge of what the flag fliers have (or have not) contributed. Do you?
"doesn't mean a dang thing" .... to you perhaps.

I've did my part to keep the road sides clean. Picked up pop cans and other garbage people threw out the window. I've mowed my road ditch. I've volenteered for comunity programs. I've helped people when they needed it. Towed their car when it broke down. (and didn't charge them) I could go on. Funny that all the things I've done to make America better and I don't even own a flag.

Those are some noble deeds you have done for your community. Some of us like to display our patriotism and love for our country and the people that fight to make us free by flying the flag. When I moved where I live now, no one was flying the flag, but mine is up daily. Now another neighbor has begun to fly the flag. It is a great sight to see when the flag is displayed. You should get one and see how you like it!!
Well...I'll never forget that day, or what I was doing when it happened. I've been proudly serving this great nation for over 11 years now in the US Air Force. I work on F-15's, and at the time stationed at Langley AFB, VA. I was washing my jet with a few other airman, and we had the hangar doors opened. I remember a captian walking up telling me that we needed to close the doors, because an aircraft just flew into the first tower. I started to close them, and as he was walking away...he got about 50 yards away, and turned back around and said I'd better call down to my squadron because the second jet hit the other tower. I looked at him in disbelief and awe struck. Anyway...we were picked up, briefed on what's going on, then was told to start generating jets for real world stuff. Longest day of my life. I was in charge of installing external fuel tanks on 18 jets, and we literally had jets loaded and patrolling the skys in about 2 hours time. I've been deployed and have seen live no kidding missiles, but when you see the ammo guys hauling them out onto the flightline and they're getting loaded for stateside missions it literally scares the hell out of you. No one really knew what to think or even how to deal with it. I worked probably 16 hours that day...because I didn't want to go home...I wanted to help protect the best nation in the world. When I finally did get home...I hugged my then fiance, and just cried my eyes out.
I don't have a flag flying outside my house...but I bleed red, white, and blue. I will die defending this nation, and I'm proud to be an American. Everytime I hear the National Anthem it sends chills down my back, and a lump in my throat. Anyway...I just want to thank each and everyone of you who are like me...REAL AMERICANS, & PROUD TO BE ONE NO MATTER HOW YOU SHOW IT!!
