Post Camper Shells

What's the recommendation for a cab-height camper shell for a Screw? So far I've looked at Leer and have a brochure for ARE, both look very nice in their deluxe models for this truck. Hate to spend $1500, though, if there's a good alternative but I also don't want to be cheap and ruin the looks of the truck. Thanks for any help, Jerry

I too have looked into this, and it seems for a good fiberglass unit, that is about what they cost.

I think thats the only answer. I'm going down tomorrow to order the top of the line Lear. Nice design, great back and side windows, fold down slider and only $1500. Seems to be the same price for the ARE.

Camper Shells

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jul-02 AT 04:32 PM (EST)]Jerry,

Although there are many brands available, I recently chose to purchase a SnugTop camper shell. After spending a considerable amount of time on-line researching several manufacturers I finally narrowed it down to that manufacturer. It exactly matches the cab lines and fits over the existing rails very neatly. I purchased one from them last month and I am not disappointed in the least with with my decision. The color matches exactly with the factory and fit and finish are number one in my opinion. I have seen my highway mpg improve by almost 3 mpg. It cost me ~1700 dollars, even though I found cheaper ones out there, I still think it was the best dollar value.

I own a loaded 2x4 2001 Screw Lariat w/ the 5.4

Well, I'll keep everyone informed in a few weeks. Last week I ordered a new Leer shell for my SCrew. I think it will work out fine, and the lines look good and seem to flow with the truck lines. Also, I like the window arrangement, rear single latch, led light, etc. Film at 11.
