what is the shift pattern on a c6. have a 77 f250 with a 400 and doesnt seem to be getting that last shift. runs on the road at 80 about 3K and 60 at 2.3K should it kick down when you floor in like when your going to pass or no? what should it be revving at on the highway
hey thanks guys ya i was thinking it probably has 411 in the rear so it might just run high idk but ya sounds right. the problem with it is that it leaks bad and sometimes will kick out of gear so you have to give it some gas to kick back into gear
If it disengages while driving, and you do not have shifter or linkage issues, and then re-engages when you gas it, you are on the verge of transmission catsasstrophy. Eventually, you will gas it and be answered by a 'BOOM' which will coincide with the rear wheels locking up momentarily, the rear axle hopping off the ground and then a coast to a stop, either with the engine running or in silence if you kill the motor. (at least that's what I saw happen to the neighbor years ago...shoulda seen the parts that came out of that one...)
Oh I dunno about it not being cheap. I rebuilt my C6 myself for $75. Kept the converter, cleaned the inerds of the tranny, got a rebuild kit and good to go. Take your time. If you're up for the challenge.
