He has been missing before ..... hopefully we will soon be reading that he was found safe.
The Sierra's are a turbulent patch of mountains. I've had friends who've flown over them in a puddle jumper and it scared them to death. Heck, even the commercial pilots coming over them into Reno-Tahoe Intl. have a hard time coming over the Sierra's. I don't think they'll find him alive. I hope I'm wrong though.
my pops flies and respects what this man has accomplished, but your a complete MORON for filing a flight plan.
maybe this is some stunt hes pulling off.
upon impact or hard landing his transmitter will automatically send a gps signal. that hasnt happened.
he wears a watch, that with a twist of a turn its a gps locating devise. thats didnt happen either
That area has some huge downdrafts, it can and has torn the wings off of little planes…..sadly I think he will not be found for a year or two, then by a hiker stumbling on to a very small debris field, usually when they go straight down there is little spread out of the plane making it very difficult if not impossible to find from the air~
You would think that a guy like that would have SOME sort of tracking device on him. There had to have been somebody at least tracking the aircraft...I mean...its not as if he was hiking and disappeared.

Evidently the ELT was not activated. Really not all that un common. 6 years ago aircraft was missing in western South Dakota, mostly prairie it took over a month to locate.
The ELT might have a dead battery or other malfunction.
i read somewhere that when you fly over that, the wind gusts that may come up all of a sudden, can throw a small plane around like a leaf. i was like no wonder alot of planes have gone down even without malfunctions or severe weather
