I spent the beginning of my holiday weekend working on the truck, installing the BD code injectors (also called 530's) and a set of headstuds. The injectors are new Alliant Power BD Code single shots with .0075" EH PSD tips, with Dynomite Diesel having done the injector work, purchased from ITP Diesel. Headstuds are H11's sources from WOP.
Install wasn't all that difficult, just time consuming. Actually, it was just the head studs that took the most time. I pulled one stock bolt out and replaced it with a stud, and gave it an initial torque. I did this for all the head bolts, one at a time, then put a final torque on the studs in a 2-step sequence. We rocked the motor to get to the back studs.
After that, the new injectors went in. That was pretty straight foward, and Kwik's writeup helped a lot. I also put a new set of GP's in since I was in there as well.
Performance wise, these new injectors are a definate improvement. First thing I notices is the difference in sound at idle, to me it sounds meaner. As of now, I've only got about 70 miles on them, so I haven't had a chance to really work them yet. I did try one WOT run from a stop in the 100 HP setting, and had to back out when EGT's hit 1550. That was at about 75-80 MPH, and far short of a 1/4 mile run. Boost was at 34 psi and going up, and the truck was pulling hard. The truck pulls a lot harder when it hits OD. With the stock injectors, it would mainly just maintain the pull it had. Not anymore. When OD hits you get pushed back in the seat even more.
There's also considerably more smoke pouring out of the stacks, but that's to be expected with more fuel. Next on the list is a turbo upgrade to pull the EGT's back into check and clear up the smoke. I am quite pleased with the new injectors so far though.
Technically, I don't think these are hybrids. They're straight BD code injectors, with PSD nozzles on them. No modifications to the injectors were done except for the tips.

YOUCH!!! That's the reason I DON'T want larger injectors!!
I sure am glad that you love the performance though. Sounds like a blast to drive!! It would be fun to try it out.
I knew that with my van turbo, when I put the injectors in that the smoke and EGT's would be an issue. The plan all along was to upgrade the turbo too, and the chip is burned for use with a bigger turbo. I'm just waiting for the wallet to recover a little before I drop the money on a turbo. For now though, the truck is very driveable. It's just those WOT throttle runs that I need to be careful with. I can always turn the chip to a lower setting too, but what fun is that?
I think that trading is no longer an option. LOL But, if you're in the area, I'd be happy to give you a ride.
how's your fuel pressure holding with these larger injectors? Im thinking of doing the bosch pump, but im unsure if it will be big enough.
Luke, I've been watching the FP gauge, and it hasn't shown a drop in fuel pressure with these injectors. That was one thing I was paying attention to. But, I want to do more WOT runs before I can confidently state that it will maintain pressure without a problem.
However, based the stats I could find on the Bosch pump, it seems to flow about as much as the A1000 does. If Aeromotive didn't list their flow rates in that goofy lb/hr method, it'd be easier to know for sure.

You and me both! I've read that going to single shots can gain you MPG, but I'm not sure if that's with similar sized injectors (what I suspect) or bigger ones. I did ask Jody to maximize my fuel economy on the 80 econ setting though. I'm taking a trip this weekend that will be a good test for finding out my MPG.
