How can you tell if your PSD is suppose to have a CAT or not ? Is it in a code somewhere ?
My early '99 has one but my friends early'99 doesn't..
I either want to remove mine or gut it ..
Thanks, if your down this way stop in for a beer...
I believe it has to do with the final delivery destination, wether or not it has a cat.If it was delivered to a dealer in California for instance it would have one.
I say take it out, but keep it around, you never know who or when you'll be required to to an emission test/inspection. I have actually failed one because visual inspection failed for not having one. Now I don't have to do inspections but you can bet that I still have the shell in case I have to do it again.
My early 99 came with a cat, took it off when I did the exhaust. original delivery was in Tomball TX but TX doesn't smog test. BTW, I'll buy the beer if you let me come down and get me a MUY GRANDE.
Do any states actually inspect diesels? I live in California, and they don't smog diesels.
State of Idaho is left up to county regulations, I believe Utah is the same as I don't have to for my current county but in Ada county Idaho, I did have to do the inspect and actually failed visual the first time for it being missing.

That's retarded- the inspect, not you LOL. How many tractor trailers have emissions on them (I don't know) but they spew black smoke all day and they're worried about us "little guys" OH- I forgot- it's called gov't job security!!
Washington inspects diesels too. Running my 4in strait pipe I had no problem passing. I dont recall seeing anyone visually inspecting exhaust. They just stuck the probe in my exhaust and had me do 5 throttle snaps. Im waiting to see what they say about the stacks when I have to go back.
In Colorado it's broken down into counties. Some do, some don't. They recently changed the emission laws for gas and some diesels, but I still have to have it inspected every year.
wolfe1104 I'm moving to Mount Vernon, Wa, which is in Skagit County and was told Skagit does not inspect diesel emmisions. When I initially move into Washington State they will do a 1 time safety inspection, then nothing from there on. I'm waiting till after that inspection, then I'm deleting the cat. Muffler is already gone even though it came with the Magnaflow kit...

Up here in North Idaho there are no emissions at all. It is really nice, I never have to worry about any of this crap. As far as I know, in Idaho there are only a couple of Southern Counties that actually worry about this crap. My sister and brother-in-law live in South Eastern Oregon, and they don't have to worry about emissions either. Guess I know where I want to stay at.
Hey, I have a 2001 F250 ext. cab six speed manual and it has a catalytic converter on it. I'm in the Las Vegas,NV area, but I believe the truck hails from Texas.
