Hey all. I keep hearing I cant put 16", 16.5" or 17" rims on my 05 sd. It has the factory 18's but as we all know tire choices are few and expensive. I recently saw an 05-07 with 17" rims. Can I use 16's without brake rotor/caliper interference? I plan on running 35" tires with the stock suspension and 2" leveling kit for now and later on go to 37 or 38" with a 6" rough country lift. Any ideas out there appreciated.
thanks for the quick replies. At least 17's will give me a few more tire choices and be a bit cheaper. and I can sell the 18's to recoup some cash lol.
Go with 17" rims. If you want to run 35's try going to your Hummer dealer and see if they have any H2 take offs. They are the BF Goodrich AT 315/75/17. When I went to the dealer they had a back room full of them. They wanted $1000 for a set of 4 with ugly H2 wheels. Thats only $250 per tire. I offered $700 and they took it. I sold the wheels for $150 to a chevy truck owner. The tires performed fine for the 20k that I put on them before I traded it.
That is a great idea. I should have thought of that with all the H2's running around on 24's and slicks lol. Hope there is a Hummer dealer nearby. Thanks for the help!
