New to the board and have an issue right away. My apologies if this has been discussed previously. I didn't see anything related to EATC.
2002 F-150 Lariat Screw with 100k. Problem: My A/C blows through the defrost vents only. Initially this would happen on acceleration reverting back to the vents when the strain came off the motor however now it is all defrost, no vents at all. I had one mechanic tell me that I have a vacuum issue. However, upon a recent trip to the dealer, they report that I need a new EATC module. I did read a few threads here regarding vacuum concerns so possibly that is my issue however a dealer is now mentioning EATC. I ran a check via "off/floor" and then "auto" buttons but no codes were displayed. Question: How can I verify these different diagnosis? I am fairly good with simply mechanics but I must admit, I have no idea where these two items are located. As I am still in shock over the dealer price for repairs, I sure would like to repair this myself.
Thanks Steve! I have not been able to get any further along thus far. I am scanning the FAQ for more info. As a note, I have noticed that when I lower the window, I can hear the blower speed increase. I'm wondering if that might lean more towards a vacuum issue in lieu of the EATC. Any thoughts? Since the weekend is upon us I thought I might get more into researching the problem. Any additional insight would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
I have the same problem with my 2003 F150 and they told me that I needed a new eatc at a cost of $912 Cdn.
What year would be compatible with this unit as I have not been able to find a 2003 unit in the car recycling business.
You defineatly have a vacuum leak. When vacuum is lost the HVAC will default to the defrosters. Is your truck a 4x4? IF so the hubs are vacuum controlled and are known to leak (fail).
