HI, im having a real difficult problem with some electrical things.. First off I installed a brand new starter and a starter solenoid for my firewall next to my battery, I also bought a new battery.. I go to turn over my truck and it clicks. My voltmeter reads 13.2 volts on my battery, my starter, and my starter solenoid on the firewall. Another thing that happens when i go to turn it over is the wire connecting from the starter solenoid on the firewall running to the starter itself turns extremely hot at almost melting point.. SOMEONE GIVE ME AN IDEA PLEASE!
sounds like a bad starter to me. It sounds like starter is going direct to ground when u try to start it. Could u have got the wires on wrong when u installed it. I would check the wireing to the starter. Anybody else have any other ideas.
Does "the wire connecting from the starter solenoid on the firewall running to the starter itself turn extremely hot at almost melting point" quickly?

Sounds like a good ground to me, an especially good ground, too good in fact.
Have heard that starter R&R access can be a b*tch. My 1st thought was the chance the new starter might be bound up for some reason. I usually bench test starters, just to be sure they spin up properly. A habit from installing so many used starters, extended to all after installing my 1st untested, DOA reman. I've seen some starters that were just stuck from sitting & would heat up "the wire" when all they needed was a push. Also saw one somebody had somehow managed to install with the pinion jammed against the ring gear that heated up "the wire".
Also hate to ask the obvious, but did you double check the new starter matches the old?
Looks like you need to pull the starter, check that the shaft spins 'freely' & bench test it, either at the parts store or hang on to it securely & use jumper cables for just a second, to see if it spins up powerfully. DO NOT let it run unloaded for more than a second.
