Manual Locking Hubs Problems
I have an 82 F-150 4x4. I noticed a strange squealing noise coming from my front end a few weeks ago. I looked at the hub, and the hub cover was loose. I don't know much about 4x4 hubs. I thought that maybe they were bad. I tried taking the hubs off. I took off the cover, then took out the gear and spring, and the C-clip. But the body doesn't seem to come out. Is there anyone who can help me out here?

Did you take off the C-clip and the snap ring from the axle shaft? Try putting two of the screws in the hub body and using them like handles to pull it out. If you do get new lock outs I would get Warn premiums or milemarkers.

Look at the id of the hub tube. Dig all the grease and grime out right around the inside of the tube. You should be able to see a large clip that is in a groove in the id of the tube. It looks more like a wire formed in a circle. Get something small and sharp to dig this wire clip out of the groove, and then the guts of the hub should come out.
