300 fuel pump interchangeablity?

300 fuel pump interchangeablity?
will at fuel pump made for a 1965-1972, 240 or 300, fit my 1985 block? just by looking at the pictures of them, the arm that rides on the cam looks like it might be alittle different.
any ideas?

As far as I know, up till '87, the fuel pump mounting area on the 300 (& 240) is the same. The difference in the '87 & up blocks is that the fuel pump arm hole isn't machined. Interestingly enough, these blocks still have the mounting boss, threaded mounting holes & the cam lobe is still there. A few guys have drilled open the boss & installed a mechanical pump on these blocks with no problems.
I guess the question for you is what kinda pump do you really need or want for your truck? I like the mid-sixties mechanical pumps with the huge filter on top, but thats just me.
