Well. I was bored today, so I decided to clean the intake/throttle body on the 99 v10 and reset the computer at the same time. Everything went great. Used CRC throttle body cleaner for the tb. Put everything back together again, hooked up the battery and the truck started right up and sounded great. Took it out for a test drive, and the truck goes up to 3000rps at 10mph before an extremely hard/slamming shift. Also the speedometer all of a sudden stopped working. Once it shifts from 1st to second the spedo jumps back to live at 30mph but when I apply brakes it drops to 0 on the spedo immediately. Should I try to reset the battery again? Or have I messed something up with the cleaning? Engine runs smooth.
Truck is 99 F250 SD V10 - 129,000mi. with a dirty tb prior to cleaning.
EDIT:
The ABS Light is staying on constant now also. And the check engine light just came on.

Also upon reading alot of back threads, this VSS sensor issue sounds like the same symptoms I'm having.....I am about to go hook the battery back up again to see if a reset resolves it. Hopefully not vss issue - I would find it strange that it just happened.
Well, autozone came up with the 500 code for the VSS issue. The directions said that it was on the top of rear differential. I removed the sensor and it was completely different than what they sold me. I took it back and they went thru every sensor in stock and came up with a photo id that said it was a brake sensor on the top of the rear diff. They are ordering the part and I should have it by tomorrow. Strange to me that it came back with VSS code if it's a brake sensor....but I guess that might explain why the ABS light is still lit up. The part is only 13.99 at autozone, hopefully that will resolve the issue. Strange that this would happen after I clean the TB - and didn't have an ABS issue prior.
This is what Autozone sold me originally. I have no idea where this would be installed though. And the install directions autozone gave me showed and described how to install the part listed in the picture ABOVE.

VSS is a way for FoMoCo to implement the 4 wd Anti Lock Braking (ABS) system. The speed signal goes to the ABS computer FIRST and then is distributed to the PCM and finally to the dash cluster where you see the needle move for MPH....
coincidental that this part crapped out when you cleaned ad tuned up the motor
Finally - I was able to get ahold of the ABS sensor for the rear differential. Autozone wasn't able to come thru for me for another 2 weeks due to a back order. Reluctantly, I called O'Reillys and they had a cheap looking ABS sensor for 20 bucks. Since the truck rides like crap when the sensor is dead, I decided to go ahead and fork over the cash. 10 minutes later, I had the part installed and the ABS light and check engine light are now off, and the truck drives and shifts like new again. I can't believe the difference it made.
Yay!
Thanks for all the info and help folks I appreciate it!
