I haven't seen a thread but have adjusted mine before. Pull off the access plate on the inside of the tailgate (it's as long as the tailgate). You will see the inside of the latch there is a rod on each side that goes to the ends of the tailgate. The rods have a nut on them that can be loosened/tightened to adjust how much pull the handle applies. Play with it opening and closing the tailgate until it feels right, then put the plate back on.
Note: If you have a spray in bedliner you will have to cut the liner around the panel to get it off.
Thanks guys, I think I found my problem. Looks like the previous owner did something to crush the tailgate inward, like something sliding around in the bed and took a long ride into the inside portion of the gate. It looks kind of hopeless except to replace it.
