I have just ordered my 4" T409 Stainless MBRP turbo back exhaust for my 2004 F250 6.0 after installing one last week on my friends 04' f350. I loved the sound and the install was simple, but my concern was how dose the cat-test pipe work. i talked to my dealer and he did not care if i put a aftermarket exhaust on but said he has to suggest i keep the cat for legal reasons, did not say he would void it for not having it but said it shoud be their if he has to work on it. I know the factory cat is not 4" so how dose the cat bolt to the flange and still clamp to the tail pipe. Also do not want to restrick the flow when the cat is not installed. With 50,000 on the truck do not want to void warranty.
If you use just the MBRP 3.5" down pipe the MBRP kitty pipe will bolt right up with no issues. Then later on you can swap in the OEM kitty if needed for work.
The MBRP kitty pipe is 3.5" on the outlet which is nice cause it slipped right into my OEM exhaust tubing like a hand into a glove. Saved me about $200 overall on a new exhaust system.
OEM downpipe is about 3" with the post-cat OEM tubing being 3.5".
When you get your MBRP exhaust in, take time to measure the tubing you are going to be surprised with what you find. Don't measure the flared ends of the tubing, just the slip-in ends of the tubing.
Dose the MBRP kitty pipe give you the two bolt flange that the factory has on it, and then clamps on the other side, In order to change the kitty delete pipe for the oem kitty, would i just have to unbolt the one side and unclamp the other.
"HeavyAssault" i want install a full turbo back system with a cat test pipe but how will my factory cat fit with the mbrp 4" tail pipe? And does the test pipe setup give me the two bolt flange for the front of the factory cat. I might be wrong but my idea of it is that i will get the two bolt flang that a straight piece of pipe will go on to that is the lenght of the cat and then clamp to the mbrp tail pipe, so the all i have to do is unclamp the tail end and unbolt the flange and put the factory cat in for work. Not sure how the factory cat will fit in the mbrp tail pipe unless it has and adaptor. DO i have the right idea on how it works or am i way off???????

Vlietracer64, I use the cat test pipe on my 4" turbo back MBRP exhaust - it's very easy - takes me about 10 minutes to swap the cat in and out for emissions testing. if you look at your stock cat, you have a two bolt flange on the front - the cat delete pipe looks exactly the same - the back of the cat is a strait pipe, cat delete pipe is the same and simply slides into the next pipe which leads onto the muffler - you simply have to remove the two bolts on the flange and losen the clamp on the rear of the cat - pull it out and put the delete pipe in...you'll get better at it after you do it a few times.. sorry, I don't have pictures of mine. I love having it out - the sound of the mbrp is nice = not too loud, but when you get on it everyone knows you are there and the jet engine sounds from the turbo are just plain nice...
i guess i am confused because the mbrp 4" turbo back i installed did not have the flange on the down pipe. or is it and flange that comes with the cat test pipe and is clamped on. how do you connect the factory cat to the larger mbrp tailpipe. Sorry for any confusion, thanks for your help.

The MBRP doesn't step up to 4" until after the cat section. So you can either use the stock cat or the cat delete test pipe from MBRP.
vileracer: Sorry about not replying sooner, but I do think most of your questions have been answered.
MBRP makes a "Off-road" 4" turbo back kit that eliminates the kitty with their piping. For those that need the kitty their kit will have the new DP with a two bolt flange for the OEM kitty. The OEM kitty fits the remaining sections of MBRP piping for smooth flow. If you PM me your email, I can send you some pics of my set up.
