69 F100 Speedometer cable
My 16 year old son and I are almost done restoring my old truck I had when I was his age. I need to replace the speedometer cable but I'm not sure if a stock one will work. The truck came stock with a 3 speed on the column. Years ago, in my hot rod days, I replace the 3 speed with a 4 speed I bought out of a unknown model of a Mustang. I remove the original cable years ago and I'm not sure if a stock replacement will work. What do I need to know to be sure if a stock cable will work or even if the transmission gear this same?

I had a similar situation. I have a 1984 tranny in my 1967 F-100. I was unsure about what would work. I contacted Tacoma Speedometer and they custom made one for me to my measurements. You should be able to find them on the Internet. Good Luck.

I think only diffrents is on some 4 speeds speedo. cable hooks up on passanger side of transmission instead of driverside. If this is the case you need a diffrent rotation speedo gear. i went to C.J.PONY parts has a good chart for ratio of gears. To make speedo. m.p.h. correct Hope this may help
