Will a cat delete pipe work on an OE system. I really have no desire to pony up $450 for a full system with the cat and muff delete pipes. So I am thinking to just replace the cat with the test pipe, since the cat is the biggest power hog / heat builder.
just remember the five foot long factory down pipe is still 3". I think that is a major factor in heat and back pressure.
(At least that's the way I see things)
Not too long ago there was a poster here on the board who did a back pressure test on the oem down pipe vs. an aftermarket 3 1/2". If you "Search" the forum , you will see what I'm talking about. Enough difference for me to weigh out the pros and cons of throwing money at an already restrictive system.
The kicker is that we all seem to have the Waranty Vulture looming over our heads whenever we "enhance" and lower our EGT's ourselves.
Your best bet is to get the MBRP downpipe and MBRP kitty delete pipe. The DP will help with the EGTs and the kitty pipe will give you better flow and sound. Both pipes will work with the OEM system and allow you to do what you want with the kitty.
