I Proudly own a 1999 F-250 LD Lariat with 350 000km's on it with no rebuilds whatsoever, but i think that its soon about to change!
I bought this truck at an auction for 2600.00. it was a gov't vehicle.
anyway, the diff in the rear has a slight howl and shudders around corners. the friction modifier will cure the shudder, but what about the howl??? I crawled under the truck after an hour drive and the pumpkin seemed strangely hot.
There doesn't seem to be any slop or play in the slip yoke but the magnetic fill plug did have some microscopic metal shavings on it. i dont really want to have to spend lots of money but if thats what i have to do then so be it; I was just wondering if anyone had any inside knowlege on the rear end in these great trucks!!!
