Question about manufacturers

OK guys, I have been peeking around these boards for a while now and have found a few interesting tidbits about parts from a supplier LMC.. What gives? I found Autokrafters to purchase many parts from but what's up with LMC? Just a question, not soliciting any flaming just looking for advise (good or bad) before I begin to lay hard earned money down on parts for my '76.

What do you mean exactly when you say?

"what's up with LMC "

The fact that they buy cheap stuff
or
products that FTE sponsors sell as well that came from the same Manufacturer ?

LMC doesn't not support this web site

FTE sponsors do though.

LMC doesn't have a free tech forum that FTE sponsors help pay for.

All LMC does .. "Is take you money "

I think what he's asking is......Are their products worth the money? I have the same question. More specifically....is the weatherstripping good quality?? I've heard JCWhitney has good rubber stuff too. Is this true???

LMC is NOT a manufacturer.. They are a retailer.

They ,like others, buy from a distributor. who buys from the manufacturer

like this manufacturing company http://www.metrommp.com/

Now, Dennis Carpenter makes things as they have the Original Ford tooling.

Sheet Metal quality and fitment in my opinion is a real concern.

I would rather pay more for better quality and better fitment.

I wish Ford would remake stuff for the truck like they did for the Mustangs back in the 80's-90's

That's why I keep saying.. why buy from LMC a non-FTE sponsor when one can buy the same or better stuff from an Actual Sponsor of this site ?

Hey Mil1ion,
That is what I was looking for actually. I know about sponsors and supporting them for their efforts and, like most everyone else, money is something of an issue. I have heard, but have no first hand experience with, that some suppliers are using parts that compromise fit, finish, performance to offer lower prices. And I was looking to try to get the most bang for the buck even if it is a few bucks more. I'm a "former" body/frame man and know what I am looking for but since this is only my second reman of these trucks I am looking for the direction of the "vets" on this site to steer me in the right direction.. You know the old saying, "I can see hitting your thumb with a hammer hurt, there is no sense in me trying it for myself!" I have already downloaded Kar Krafters catalog and started through it and like what I am seeing so far (lots of factory part numbers and offerings) so I'll head off in that direction. Thank you for the starting points! Also, would you have contact info for Dennis Carpenter's parts?

when did they (DC) start sponsoring FTE ?

G, You threw me off by posting "Manufacturer's" in the title ........ instead of Parts suppliers.

Please be aware that when it comes to sheet metal products there are a TON of inferior parts.

Thin gauge steel and lousy specs.

There are also numerous suppliers of Ford parts.

BOTP,Mac's,Green sales,Autocrafter's,The Paddock,NPD,.....
they all have to get them from somewhere

IMO, that you contact these suppliers and ask who/where they get their products from.

Look for NOS suppliers when it comes to chromed or anodized parts.

Mil1ion, My mistake I thought I saw it on the side of supported sponsors. So different threads have different sponsors?
