electronic ignition

i want to put electronic ignition on my 390. i'd like to do this as cheap as possiable ( the wife is getting a little sore at all the money i'm putting in my truck). the dist. in it now is pretty well shot. i thought about a rebuilt dist. (about 55.00) and a pytronics igniter and new stock coil. or can i do better for about the same price?

Pretty hard to beat that combination. If the stock coil is in good shape keep it.

MSD! Whatever you do do not get an accel. Your tach might start jumping and they suck. I have two of them and they both work the same and that is like crap. I have all new wiring running directly from the battery to a separate switch so I know its the coil. My neighbor borrowed one of the coils once and his tach was bouncing all over and he said it didn't idle nearly as good. He did this with the resistor unbypassed and bypassed. The pertronix coil seems to be good from what I hear. My old neighbor had one on his 390 combined with the pertronix 1 and he loved it.

I like my pertronix flamethrower coil with no resistor. Works great so far (1 year and a little less than 10,000 mi).

If biker doesnt want that distributor please let me know what the shipping charges will be, and I'll send the $ to you. I have the wiring, brain box, and coil, but I don't have a distributor yet.

My christmas wish list:
I would like an am/fm cassette radio......gift wrapped in a mint condition 73 - 75 ford f250 4 wheel drive.
