urban farmer - you don't say if you've had this engine apart before. Have you replaced the rockers and valve springs ever? weak springs can cause valves to do all sorts of weird things, as can bad lifters. If you take it apart you shoulkd consider do upgrades to entire valve train, and by no means ever do any camshaft upgrades w/o new springs and lifters. I got burned on 1st build up, they put my old springs back in, (new ones walked out of shop!), and I had headaches until heads redone w/14k on motor. Good Luck.
