best replacement alternator?
What brand of alternator should I get for my 99 PSD? I have replaced it once with one from Auto-Zone. I know it has a lifetime warranty but I dont want to have to keep changing it. Any suggestions? thanks Alan

Did you get the new or reman?? I put the new AZ Gold in mine -- so far, so good. There is a site that sells over-sized (both physically & current-wise). Can't recall it right now, but maybe someone will chime in.

Just take 'er back to Autozone. It seems kind of foolish to spend money on another new one when you can get another from Autozone for free.
Do NOT buy Napa alternators. I don't care what kind of a deal you can get or if your brother makes them, the Napa alternators are terrible and shouldn't be used.

Sigh... I just went to Reno this weekend and on the way my alt died. Fortunately the radar detector started screaming HIGH VOLTAGE for a few seconds to let me know it was about to die. It died pretty quick and I needed a new one on the road. I was a few miles from a Napa I used to go to when my old Falcon would die on the way to Chico. I ended up buying a NEW one with a lifetime warranty for $260... 12 minutes of wrenching and I was back on the road.
I'll keep you posted on it's life span.
