Thumbs down 2000 expedition burning oil.

2000 expedition 5.4 120000 miles on it ,on a 300 mile round trip it will use 1 and 1/2 quarts of oil, is this a common thing with these trucks? dont leak or anything that I can tell so I guess Its got to be burning it but it doesnt smoke at all. rings? my 94 f150 has a 302 with 190000 miles on it and it doesnt use any between 3000 mile oil change. thanks for any input....Jamie

You need to get a compression & leakdown test done to see where you might be losing the oil. That amount in that many miles is very excessive.

I had a 2000 with 120,000 also and it burnt about a .5 to 1 quart every time I got gas. Rings were shot.

Seems to be common on here that these will use about a quart or so between oil changes. But a quart in 300 miles is definitely excessive and you should get it checked out.
