I was going to do a 4.5" or 5" lift with 35/12.50/17 BFG MTs. I started thinking about how those radius arm drop brackets are designed. It just seems to me that they would create more leverage during suspension travel and could allow the frame to be twisted in an off road situation. In fact, I saw it once on a Bronco. I'm rethinking things and may just do tires and rims, maybe a 304/70/17 GY MTR on some factory take-offs. Just out of curiosity, would the replacement radius arm lift method be less risky in that regard?

I have run lifts with radius arm drop brackets with no problems. I currently have one on a 88 F150 that sees lots of offroad abuse. I don't think that it would be a problem. I havent heard of any problems on the super duties.

Is this the truck you are thinking about lifting?
Are you going to be doing some hardcore off roading in this truck?
If so, put your money in an older truck, and beat up the old truck instead.
The new systems today are good and will stand up to normal use. 35 inch tires are pretty moderate for your truck, and combined with only 5 inches of lift you should be fine.
Extended Radius arms have been around along time. 66-77 Broncos had them.
I plan to use new arms for my Bronco SAS. It's funny, 80s 3/4 tons and 1 ton trucks lost Radius arms and the 1/2 tons kept them. Now the 1/2s lost them and the larger trucks got them? oh well.
The drop brackets dont allow for more clearance. If you are serious offroading then i would replace the radius arms. We use mostly Fabtech and Procomp, check out what we sell at www.monstertrucksale.com No issues in many, many installs but most of our customers are after the look and rarely see dirt
