I checked out my engine today. It has D4TE upside down on the passengers side front of the engine. On the driversside front right next to the water pump port is the mirror image 105. This engine does have the standard D2TE AA 360,390.428 w/o air heads. I am not sure what the crankshaft is I'll find that out when I change the oil pan
What is your opinion of this engine, thanks
Jon
Chas
the D4TE stands for 74 truck engine. the mirror 105 image on the block means that it is a heavy duty 360/390 block. Im not 100% sure but this block may have reinforced main webs and thicker cylinder walls capable of being overbored to 428 specs?? I have this same block too but I never tore it apart--its waiting for that next project!
regards
Ben
It does have reinforced main webs and sometimes thicker walls. I have the same block. Mine was originally a 360 but that means nothing as far as yours goes. A standard 390 block is more than adequate for either of our engines so all that stuff is overkill. But a little overkill never hurt anyone.
