Question

Parking brake cable

Last time I had my brakes done I was informed that the parking brake cable from the pedal mechanism to the first juncture was stretched. Now, it has separated and left me with no parking brake. According to a dealership parts man, I can buy everything in the system except that particular cable. I can't even find one in the local recycle yards around here. Should I have someone try and fabricate one? I always leave the truck in gear and don't miss it much but would like one for emergencies. Thanks.

Brake Cable

According to the online Bendix brake catalog, the front brake cable part number is C1315. It also crosses to a NAPA part #93490. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll inform my mechanic. Now my brake and antilock lights are on for good I think. M-80 down the fuel filler tube should do the trick.
