ok I have this block that has this casting # ECZ 6015 C
I know the 6015 part is a general for # for a block
I pulled this info from the John Mummert site
"ECZ -C 312 cu. in. V8 1957 ECZ 6015 C. 292 with EBU main caps."
Problem is I can't read any numbers on the main caps, corrotion I guess. How can I tell if it's 312 or 292? The rods are EBU's and it has a reuber type rear main seal. Is this a 292?
Sorry for all the questions lately but I'm a ford guy from way back, mostly 289, 302, and 351's though, this is my first Y-block, trying to learn all I can.
Have you checked Mummert's Crank ID info... www.ford-y-block.com/crankshaftid.htm
If all else fails, pop a main cap and measure the journal OD, 312's have larger journals than all other Y-Blocks.
I forgot about that page, looks like my best bet is to meassure the oil slinger, this motor has had some machine work done so the crank may not be at stock sizes.
