where do i need to connect my vacuum gauge at to set up my carb? i'm using a holley 500 cfm and it has a port for constant vacuum. can i use this connection? or do i need to find a vacuum manifold for my stock intake?
thanks and merry christmas
If the port is on the bottom of the carb and has a constant pretty strong pull at idle it is manifold vaccum. You should have a port coming off of the manifold. This should work also. If you have power brakes take your reading from that line.
the port on the carb is at the bottom and according to the instruction this port is for power brakes ( which i don't have) and has a constant vacuum. i don't have any ports on the manifold just plugs. i'll give the carb port a try.
thanks

i'll be glad to pay for it. my parts dealer said he had a schematic for the hook up of it. i've got about 500 miles on the new engine and have adjusted the points twice, darn things keep slipping i did put an antivibration washer under the screw heads this last time. after 11 years with one that had electronic ignition i had forgot how much trouble points are.
thanks
finally got around to setting the carb with a vacuum gauge. i used the constant vacuum port on the carb, seems to have worked just fine. i'm getting a steady and solid 19 hg. what should it be? this is the first time i've used a vacuum gauge. this is the highest reading i can get by adjusting the carb and timing.
