white buffalo,I just reread the link in you other post and it state's under ...the fix, that ford will put a fused link between the switch and a c control, now Im confused after reading that statment and what my dealer sold me and what your dealer sold you,did you go in asking for a new switch or did you ask for the fix on the c control/switch/fire issue ???,when you remove the old switch see if it has a part # stamped/printed somewere and see that the new one is NOT the same part#,between what you were sold and what I was sold and what that link say's,I'm totaly confused about the whole issue,Im seeing 3 opposing point's here, any ford tec's on here to point us in the right direction
........Thank's for the reply,I realy dont care if the part was $100.00,I would spend the $$$$ just to not risk loseing the truck with the 7.3,no way do I want anything as high tec as what all 3 major player's are building now,BTW,when I had my 6637 air filter off to put the fused link in I shined a light down to the turbo and everything was clean and bright including the blades, look's like new@ 64000 mile's,NO DUST what so ever, that was the bright spot for the afternoon, thank's for the post.

Hey poppie,
Iwas confused (and still am a little), that is why I postes the subject. When I went into the ford dealer I told the parts guy that I knew my truck was not part of the recall but I had the same defective switch that that is in the models that are being recalled. I want to buy the new switch anyway and replace it myself. He typed my info into the computer and pulled me out the new switch.
The new switch is different than the current one and I didn't see a fuse link in the new wiring harness. I have a friend that is a diesel master tech, I'll give him a shout and see what he says.

Ok I Just Read This Whole Thread. I Dont Want To Ask The Same Questions But I Have A 2001 F250 7.3 And My Father Has A 2003 F350 7.3 So We Need To Get This Problem Fixed!!! What Exactly Do I Tell The Ford People To Give Me To Fix This Problem So My Truck Or My Fathers Truck Doesnt Catch Fire!!!!!!!

....at this time I would go to the part's dept and ask if the "new switch" fix's the problem and go with it if they confirm it,at the vary least use the fused link or as white buffalo said, get with a tec and ask, btw,if I understand this issue, not every truck ect will catch fire,it seem's to be a vary small %age, but how do you know when your # is up,not worth the risk, get it fixed pronto.
Take this seriously guys I had a 94 F-250 burn down, along with my friends garage and about 150000 worth of tools. Bad news, fire inspector suspects electrical fire most likely from this switch or the ignition mondule.

I did, left him a message - waiting to hear back. Not sure if he is out of town or something. I usually hear back from him the same day.
I went through this recall the first time in 2003 with my wifes Expedition, I recieved the fused link. I asked the Master tech at my local dealership about my truck and he said it was fine since it was not a constant hot circuit in the diesel. I may go pick one up in the A.M, just for piece of mind. Thanks guys.
