bump, thud, shift feeling from start

Occasionally, after a hard stop, I can feel a bump or a thug (almost like something shifted in the bed that u'd be hauling) when I let of the brake. There is not accelerating needed, only as I release the brake. At first I thought I could contribute this to my ABS but now I am not sure.
Any ideas what this could be?

Since no one chimed in sooner, it sounds like your slip shaft on the rear driveshaft is dry; very common problem and easy fix.

Pull your tires and check your brakes too. Loose/missing caliper bolts can cause similar sounds, but yes, first I would check the driveshaft slip joint.

Thanks there miker67. One thing, There is no sound per say. Just the feel.
