Fixing E-brake cable?

Fixing E-brake cable?
My parking brake is out on my '81 F-250 4X4 and I was wondering if it's a possible fix that I can do myself? Or if it's something best left up to a shop to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You can certainly fix it. Usually the first thing to happen is the cables that go to the rear drums rust and freeze up. Luckily(or not), this happens so often, you can get them pretty cheap at the parts store. You have to take the drums off the rear to replace them though.
After that, everything else is on the outside driver's frame rail, about midway down the frame.

I just did this to my 86, both cables for under $30. It isn't that big a deal to get the rear drums off, take the axles out, take the nuts loose, and back tha adjuster down, pull the drum off...
