Has anyone else had a BAD problem w/ water in the gas tank. The Ford svc dept changed my entire fuel system - from the gas tank to the injectors and within a month there was water in the tank again. They can't figure it out!
I would also have to say where did you fill? I know around here at least there are some places you don't fill at, not unless you want water with your diesel.
I'd guess the waters in the fuel you're buying. If you want to check it out and have a few dollars and some time, get you a hand pump with a fuel filter/separator filter and pump your diesel into a tank or 55 ga drum first. Then transfer that into your tank with the hand pump. If you get the filter set up with a clear housing you should be able to see the water seperate out at the bottom. You would then be able to drain out the water before putting it into your tank while you look for a new place to fill up.
Unfortunately it cant be my fuel source because they are the biggest suppliers of diesel in kona, HI- and I fill all three of my work trucks up there and also most of the school buses, and semi trucks around here do too. I called the fuel company and they gave me 4 reasons and a guarantee that it could not be them.
So any way yesterday, after I posted my thread on this site, I spent some time looking for a possible way for the water to be getting in my tank. This is what I found. There is a crack on the steel flatbed, right in the middle and over the gas tank, where the two sheets of metal are joined to make my bed. when it rains, water drips down onto the tank sending unit(which is like a little bowl) and collects there w/ no way out. It must be leaking in thru there-that is the only way I can figure. I am no mechanic but I am puzzled that the retards at my local Ford svc dept can't figure it out after replacing my entire fuel system from tank to injectors. Thanks for all your replies to my post - I will definitely come to this site for any questions I have about my two PROBLEM 6.0 trucks
Try the link above. I don't know if it pertains to your truck, as you did not post the year & model. This was a warrantable fix, so if your truck was still covered under the 3/36 warranty, and they charged you for their work, you might be able to recover the cost. If it pertains to your truck, print out the TSB and bring it to the dealer, or give them the TSB number.
