Both the smallblock and bigblock motors mated to the 4WD C-6 auto have the same bolt pattern for the trans adapter and t-case, only difference is the bellhousing bolt pattern for the motor bolts. the BIG difference, however, is the material in the adapter for the specific t-case bolted to the tranny. While the NP208 and Borg-Warner t-cases used aluminum adapters, the NP 205 used either a 5-3/4" or 8-3/4" cast iron adapter which was also slotted for the two-rail shifters on the 205. So, technically, you can bolt up the Np205 to your smallblock, 80's model 4WD C6 that had a NP208 bolted to it, but you'll need to slot the trans adapter for the Np205 dual shifter rails. And the added weight of the NP205 will likely crack the aluminum adapter, even with an added crossmember for the NP205. So, your best option is to find a long (8-3/4") C6 to NP205 cast iron adapter, and still add a crossmember to support the NP205. You can either modify a stock x-mbr or build one/have it made. IF you go to that trouble, consider adding the NP203 doubler kit to the NP205 for better low-range gearing. that's what I have planned for the 84 Bronco, including modifying the stock C-6 tranny x-mbr to alow the Np205 driveshaft to work without interference. You prolly will not be able to use a CV joint in the front driveshaft due to clearance issues with the C6 transmission, too. JSM84
