i washed my truck for the first time in a couple of months and now my leaf springs are UNGODLY loud during braking and take off..basically when i load and unload the suspension its bad..any ideas how to clear it up?wd-40?some type of lube?where would i put it?up by the shackle or on the leafs themselves?any help would be great
I'm not exactly sure WHERE to lube, but might I suggest trying a dry lube. WD-40 will evaporate soon enough, but it also won't work very long. Thincker/heavier stuff might last longer but it might also collect a lot of dust/dirt/sand...
If it does turn out to need something between the leafs, you might try a dry lube like graphite. I have never done this, but it is an easy thing to undo if it doesn't help, and it might keep things cleaner.
This really is just a guess - I've never had the problem or tried this solution. I'm just saying that if it DOES turn out to be needed in the leafs you might try something like graphite. You can get it at most hardware stores, or Boy Scout offcies - the use it to lube there pinewood derby car's axles.
ok i just sprayed it down with graphite and some silicon...gonna see if that trick..going to let it sit for 20min or so and then go try it out..will post my findings
ok quieted the springs down but guess what?the sound is still there...its the ladder bars creaking from the stress going left to right..tightened down all the bolts..greased the end links..didnt do a damn thing....this sound is really loud..anyone got a fix??should i weld the ladder bars to the axle housing?any help would be great..and i did notice the springs are quieter so thanks for the graphite tip..=)
