My buddy has an 05 that is having a few clutch issues. When everything is cold the pedal is normal. . . . and everything works fine. Drive around a while and warm everything up. . . . all the sudden its like the clutch fluid is low. . . .and won't dissengauge the clutch properly. Its very hard to get it into gear from a stop when its all warm. Pumping the pedal doesn't seem to do anything. And if you are on flat ground at a stop and you're in gear, take your foot off the brake and you can feel that the clutch is partially engauged. The fluid is not hot to the touch in the master cylinder. . . and i don't think there is anything really hot down by the slave cylinder. Any ideas?
Tim
1) There is air in the system. The proper way to bleed it is to pop the slave cylinder out and have it pointiing straight down, then actuate the pedal a few times to see if there's any bubbles in the resevoir.
2) Bad seals in either the master or slave cylinder. Easiest way to check that is to pick one and replace it; if it doesn't work try the other one. Although you could cap off the master and put some pressure on the pedal to see if it moves; if you can't move it the seals are probably good in the master.
3) Bad pressure plate or clutch disc. No easy answer here; pull them out and inspect them. Also check flywheel runout at that time.
That's all I can think of, if anyone else has any thoughts I'm sure they'll chime in.
