This is what's left of my 85 with the 390. It looks ALOT better in that pic than when i first picked it up since I had already opened the hood. Otherwise it's like I'd said before, it took out a 10" cedar tree, a couple small oaks, and finally came to rest on a 22" oak tree. Official speed estimate was 65MPH.
LUCKILY i had a piece of 4"x.25" wellcasing as a front bumper. It kept driveline damage to a minimum but toally destroyed the frame.
I'm going to start over with a 1986 Supercab that i'm getting tomorrow. It's getting a 300-6 for the ease of the swap, but it'll get the 390 treatment as well.
It's not getting a 390 now since i'm going to totally tear mine down to make sure the block didn't get cracked around the motor mounts or anything since the force of impact was enough to debond the one rubber mount and make the one solid one unrecognizeable.

EDIT:
But i had to smile, my die hard chevy fan buddies rattle canned "Ford Tough" across the hood and drew a tree with a big X across it
Looks better than a 97 Suburban I seen crossed clipped by a 06 Mini Cooper, talk about a worthless piece o DUNG!!! the truck was totalled(rolled twice) ... I should ask the guy for copies of the photos... the Cooper had fender damage, and was on it's way LOL!!!!!
I just think it's dang impressive for 65MPH off a T in the road head on into all the trees. when the officer told me the estimated speed of impact over the phone i was expecting the transmission to be between the cab and the bed
I dunno some buds and I went off a 90º in a 82 Toy Celica, pavement to gravel doing about 85, locked the E brake when I saw the Grader embankment (18-20") coming so it wouldnt be a headon, took the driver corner into it, tossed us about 9ft in the air for 40' and hit a tele pole about 8' off the ground and dropped. Motor still running, left front tire keeping the clutch pedal from dumpming... I floored it to dumpshift it into reverse and first at leaswt twice trying get outa the **** before realizing it was a lost cause LMAO!!!
seems to have. the passengers side exhaust manifold is shot, but otherwise it fired and ran when i got the truck back. It looks like the motor stalled on initial impact since on the backside of the radiator there are 5 fan blade marks instead of a big circle. That's nice so i know it didn't run without water or oil.
