Need help to identify the problem

I have a 1998 Ford V6 4.2L F-150 extended cab with 95,000 miles. The battery light on my dash board lights up when I rev up my engine like when I am getting on the freeway. I notice it happens when my RPM hits 3 and higher. Then when the RPM goes below 3 then it turns off. I put in a new battery about 5 years ago and I am due to put a new in next month. Does anyone know what is going on?

A couple of guesses.
A bad tensioner,letting the belt slip ?

A bad /slipping belt ?

A bad alternator ?

sounds like the regulator in the alt is the trouble. have it checked with a dvom or a alt load tester at the speeds you mentioned and go from there.
