Need a coil recommendation
I have a 1970 F250 4x4 with a bored 390 and some upgrades. Among them are a Mallory Unilite replacement for the original points. The distributor is original just replaced the points with the Unilite.
I am currently running the original coil. Can anyone recommend a good coil I could mate to the Unilite for a hotter spark?
Thanks,
Lee
I have a mallory dual point and an accel super coil. I have been running this setup for quite some time and it is fine. The only thing, I had to run a resistor with the points because i was buring up the condenser. If you dont want to go the accel rounte, try an original MSD blaster coil. I heard that they are pretty good. However, do not get suckered into buying a coil with the most windings thinking that it will be terrific. Oftentimes, those coils are for racing and they generate MASSIVE amounts of heat and therefore they are specific to the application. I would say look for a coil that has roughly 20% max more output. Amerage is what lights the fire so also dont get misled but incredibly excessive voltage ratings too! I hope this helps!

Ben
