Well I hope so. The stock piece is all in one casting. Seems to me the the hot side will tranfer heat to the cold side.

Instead of the nationwide dealer search I did the nationwide junk yard search. Calling it a Y-pipe resulted in confusion, turns out they refer to it as a distribution manifold. It took me quite awhile, but a guy in Oregon knew a a guy who had one. Cost me $140.00 and I was gald to pay it since locating this part is by far the harders part of this mod. At least I hope its the hardest part....

they arnt too bad to make, its just time. i wouldnt be too worried about the heat transfer its such a small area and theres such a hughe amount of air moving through there not to worry bout it. the 3" is suffencient up to about 1200cfm more air than that ya need bigger tubes but thats typically above 600rwhp. since its intake compressed air the temps are lower so less volume of air than the exhaust that needs the larger pipe. theres some companys that make pre bend aluminum pieces and you can fit the pipes and weld to make it. and theres some turbo companies that make flanges to match up to your turbo so the marmon clamps will work.

I did it at work a couple of weeks ago. Search showed only one in the country and we couldn't get it.....don't know if it was really there. BTW, the early spider isn't discontinued, just on national backorder. It's unclear whether they are permanantly out of production or if they will eventually come form a different source.

That's good to know, I've not seen anyone that has actually measured the temp differences from the cast y-pipe vs one that's fabbed up. Maybe I 'll just use the cast piece, I'm not building a drag truck. I'll bet smoothing out the inside passages will help the flow a bit. That casting is pretty rough.

Doyou have info on the flanges, that will make things a lot easier. Good Info, thanks.

Geoff at GTS says he doesn't have any parts, he doesn't order any till he's got 10 guys on the line committed to buy them. Hypermax has a 2 piece intake instead of a single spider, looks like you could copy that approach pretty easily. Maybe junkyard intake plenums and spider would be a good option, but my yards here don't let you strip motor parts if the motor is still good, they chain the hood shut.
