Thats usually a sign of a front end out of alignment, bad coil springs, or bad balljoints. I wouldn't think you'd have kingpins, but this would also be a sign that those were on their way out too.

well there is no banging, clunking or any nose when driving or hitting bumps, so it's probably just an alignment then??

front tire issues

I just had my '83 F250 front end rebuilt. Before the tries were tilted out. After, they are nice and straight (correct camber).

The camber cannot be adjusted on the '83 unless the I-beams are bent. If your 86 has ball joints, then the camber can be adjusted with a camber kit. Otherwise you'll have to find the rare shop with i-beam bending know how.

Add a front brush guard or heavy bumper and/or wider tires. it got mine nice and straight on my 83 f250

Properly aligned, the tires should be out at the top a bit, it's part of the steering geometry.

As long as it is returning to center properly, and the tires aren't wearing funny, don't mess with it.

to answer your question, its normal for your tires to be tilting foward on a ttb suspension, but not good.

and yes you will get abnormal tire wear.

and yes it is an easy fix with "adjustable camber bushings".

On the topic, My 1980 F150 has the same problem, tire wear is on the outside, slight not dramatic, sound like just an alignment? I have been asked before if I have king pins, well heh Do I?

All of my TTB fords have looked like the tires are tipped in especially when I backed up and parked. An alignment shop told me that was normal, and I didn't have real bad tire wear. The worst one I had for tire wear was an 86 4x4 with 35in tires. Just had to rotate them every oil change.

My '83 F-150 is all original, and has the original ball joints that have an adjustment provision for camber adjustments. My front-end guy told me that someone before him had made some wild camber adjustments that caused my truck to feel like I was riding the brakes when I would let off the gas. The left front tire was worn down to the wire on the outside edge. After the alignment, no tire wear, totally tight front-end, and no more feelings of riding the brakes. Its been 3 years now since that alignment, and there is no noticable wear on the front tires. Amazing.
