How to test a coil?
I have a 79 bronc 351m. I have striped everything off of it but the basics. I changed the alternator to a one wire type getting rid of the regulator. I went to fire it up and I had no spark. How do I test the coil to see if its working? I have a new solinoid, and the engine turns over.
Thanks
79 Bronc.
Then take the meter and hook it to the negative of the coil or sometimes ford calls it the "tach" terminal. Hook the other lead to the engine block. Crank the engine, and you should see the voltage jump up and down.
If you don't, make sure you have 12 volts on the red wire going to the dist module on the fenderwell with the key in run.
