Transmission diode

2001 F350 at the dealer now. Needs the Mechanical diode repaired. about 4 months out of warranty and about 40,000 miles on the truck. Has anyone else had to deal with this around Denver? Is it better idea to have a good tranny guy drop in a beefed up unit for the same price as getting the dealer repair. Does anyone one know a good shop??

Thanks in advance !!!

Id think having a completly new or rebuilt transmission installed and in my truck would be an obvious choice over having 1 part inside my 40,000 mile transmission replaced, if the price is comprable. The new/reman transmission would probally have a warranty, the 1 part in the current transmission could fail the next day, or it could have been mis diagnosed, and you would be out your time, and cash, and with no labor or parts warranty.

Definately go with another shop. Dealerships screw you everytime.
