You guys have been helpful in the past so here is another one. My serpentine belt vibrates at idle when I load up the alternator with lights, a/c, or application of the brakes. If you hold on to the PS pump the vibration subsides so I replaced the PS pump but this did not help.
Lets go over a few things. Do you feel the vibration inside the cab? 1st step is to look at the belt tensioner. 2nd feel and or hear altenator bearings or hear the grinding of brushes in the alternater ground down to nothing (that grinding should not cause engine vibration) . 3rd is the clutch on the AC skip catching because the surface is worn. (fix by removing the shim behind the bolt) or the ac bearings going bad.
Trouble shooting is hard over the net and I continue to b%#@ about the guys that throw out suggestions without reason. Start there and post any observations and how did you come to the conclusion that the belt was overly vibrating?
ALternator is relatively new along with the A/C compressor, belt tensioner seems to have good spring in it still, (it takes some effort to pull it back to remove the belt), and the tensioner bearing is in good shape. You can actually see the belt "bunching up" ahead of the alternator.
