1996 Supercharge?

5.0L 302" F150 XLT 4x4 1996.
i don't know alot about chargers. I know that I may prefer the super over the turbo, but what do you think? I've been reading alot. This is what my ideal action would be:
A nicer sounding, more power all the time (not just at higher rpm) that is the safest on my engine, and is most compatible while cost remains in the picture.
I heard that one type of charger makes a high pitched whining noise, and one of them eases the sound. what's the difference (+a
I have ruled the "roots" super out. So it's up to the centrifugal and the twin-screw. What is up with the difference? I am a little low on available cash, so is it possible to buy the main peice, install it, and then buy the second most main peice and so on and so forth until it's all complete?
Basically, I need to know what charger is most compatible and beneficial for my machine?

centrifugal superchargers are widely available for the 5.0. Whipple or someone might make a twin screw for it. A twin screw or roots blower would give you the low end /mid range power your looking for. No matter which you go with, though, you will be able to feel the difference in a huge way. Just about all superchargers have gears in them, the ones with straight cut gears make the most noise, while helical gears are quiter, but will still make some noise at the speed they'll be turning. Most superchargers are sold in kits, and if you were able to buy it piece by piece, it would be a waste of time. Probably about $500 dollars for the piping and what not, or $1500 if you get an inter or aftercooler, then you still have to drop $3500 or so all at once for the supercharger itself. Maybe look for a place that has an installment plan?

thats why i said about the 460, cost to power ratio would be cheaper than the supercharger and in the end, still make more power without wearing the engine out.

oh thanks for all the info. so scrap the buying it in parts plan. so you think that centrifugal or a twinscrew would be able to feel the most difference, or would they be the same? And the intercooler normally does not come in the kits, is that what ya mean?
