I have an 2003 EB Expedition. The previous owner had the tires changed some where and the tire pressure sensors were missing when i bought the truck. I bought 4 new sensors from my local Ford Dealer parts and just had them installed with new tires at a tire store. I put on 4 new Continentals which i believe are the exact same tires the truck came off the lot with when new.

My problem is, if you havent guessed it by now is re-syncing the trucks computer to recognise these new sensors. Of Course I went to 4 different tire places and the one I settled on I made absolutely sure they knew how to install and then had the knowledge/tools to reset the trucks computer to accept the new sensors which they assured me they did.

In any event they couldnt. So I am asking is there a way without me having to take to truck back to Ford to reset the computer myself to register the new sensors?

do a search here on TPMS and you will find the exact procedure

you need a magnet to place on each sensor at the wheel as you synch the onboard computer, it only works if you have the proper sensors (I think you need the blue ones)

 

Yea, I tried to use the re-train procedure with the 3 ingnition cycles and brake pedal push, then three more ignition cycles but i never get the truck to go into lean mode and no horn beep.

I'll run it by the Ford dealership in the morning i guess.

 

Well the local dealership service department was a bust. Claim they couldnt "communicate with the "TPS Module".

The actual error I get via the message center is "tire pressure system fault"

Does anyone know where the TPS Module is located in the vehicle. I went to parts department and looked up the price +- $180 and by the schematic i seems to be located above the headliner behind the driver. Could this be accurate?

that is the same message you will get if the sensors are not recognized by the system

go to another dealer who knows about the TPMS for your year vehicle, perhaps a Lincoln dealer?

 

Thats correct, but the issue is we can not make the truck put the TPMS into calibration or re-train mode to even look for the sensors. I cant do it with the ingnition cycle sequence and can not do it via the tool ford hooks up via the ODBC port in the truck.

My next step is to locate where the TPMS module is located in the truck and swap it out with a another known good module.

 

Any chance you were supplied the wrong sensors for the vehicle?

 

I explicitly asked for the ones that went in the 2003 model, and they were all black and matched up. I think i am good there.

I have some kind of system fault within the truck because i can not in any way force the truck into re-train mode at all in any of the known ways.
