Need transmission

Would like to purchase heavy duty top loader three speed for "49 F-!. Please send pictures with what you have and what you need to get for it. I want to replace a four speed with granny--Trade? Thanks John

John, you will like the HD 3 speed however they are heavy and shipping would eat you alive I suspect.They weigh almost as muck as the 4 speed.Good luck with your search.

Have you thought of using a modern tranny with O/D? I haven't done it but it's probably a little more work and you get O/D for better gas mileage and the newer transmissions have better highway gearing.

3 speed

Not sure if you have seen this yet, do a search for T5 transmission swap. A few people here have done it. Puts in a 5 speed from an S10 so you get synchronized gears and overdrive.
