1986 F250 7.5 460 Cleaned with 4 cans of engine bright..hosed off ran at first then after about ten min with it being turned off it will not start and has n o spark
I have used that stuff before and I think in the dircetions it said to steer clear of anything electrical. I would check to see if the coil is giving any kind of spark. Then start working up your wiring.
it does not say to stay away from wires..but i got water in the alternator..could i have burned it out? would i get spark if alt was shorted? what about letting it sit and dry..thank u 4 your help
No, i would say you more than likely didnt burn your alternator out. Im thinking you probably got some water into the distributor and got some on the pickup. Make sure the rest of the engine is dry and let it sit in a dry place for a few hours. You probably just got some water where it shouldnt be. It will dry up soon. Probably should leave the hood open to let the water evaporate a little faster. If no go Ill be here! O yea welcome to FTE!

i MEAN HELP WITH ON LINE QUESTIONS AND I WOULD PAY U FOR YOUR HELP..
LIKE WHERE IS PCV AND MAP SENSOR BOOK DOES NOT SHOW..GOOD RUNNING AT LOW SPEED BUT WHEN YOU GET ON IT, IT DOES NOT SEEM TO KICK DOWN AND GET IT ON... CANT ORDER PART ON LINE NO WAy to del...
This forum isnt about paying for help its about asking. I dont want your money! The PCV valve is located in the valve cover connected to a rubber hose that goes into a vacum port on the carburetor. Not sure on the map sensor as I dont have EFI. You might have the kick down linkage not adjusted right or if its vacum operated, the hose might be leaking or you need a new solenoide on the trans. Franklin2 would know all about the sensors so maybe he will be here soon!
That truck, having a 460, shouldn't be fuel injected, and therefore should not have a map sensor.
The PCV valve is at the rear of the passengers side valve cover.
Hmm, try unplugging and plugging back in all the low voltage connections on the ignition system, I found the plug at the coil was probably the worst for water killing the ignition.
Also, remove the distributor cap(should be able to without removing the wires) and check for moisture on the bottom of the cap, and in the pickup at the bottom of the distributor, another place I've had water issues with my mud racer.
cool.. I have taken cap off and left off sprayed wd40 inside.. pulled coil wire off but did not leave off maybe i shpold... what does the "pick up look like? is inside dis or outside..thank u so much
