Booster/MC

Hi guys, I have a question regarding my brakes. First off I have a 75 F250 with Dana 40/60 axles, and I have replaced every single brake component (except the lines and booster), including the MC and I seem to be having a problem. I have the brakes stopping fine, but I need to press the pedal to the floor before they grab...when they do grab it stops great. Now, I have bled them twice, and have done it in the proper order etc., and I have also reversed/stopped to adjust the adjusters, but I still can't seem to get the pedal to adjust correctly. One thing I may need to adjust would be the nut on the end of the brake lever that goes into the MC...I realize I didn't measure the distance, and just bolted the MC on. Do I need to double check the measurement on that? Do I need to keep adjusting the brakes by going in reverse? Could I have a problem with the booster?

Also, should there be a proportion valve on the MC? I don't seem to have one, but I am not sure there was one on the truck to begin with. TIA!

Your prop. valve is under the drivers side floor pan. I would check it and see if it has tripped.

Nice...! Thanks - I will look at it tonight. What do you mean by tripped? do these valves get stuck or go bad?

The proportioning valve, according to the illustration in the parts catalog is on the left frame rail inboard of the left front wheel. Follow the lines from the master...they'll lead right to it. On the proportioning valve (correct Ford title: Brake Pressure Differential Valve) you will also find the low brake fluid warning light switch.

Thank you guys - that's awesome. I hopefully won't need to mess with it, and I was just wondering if it was something I needed to pick up - glad I don't need to. Any idea on the brake adjustment?

Guess I should be specific...

Any idea on how to shorten the pedal travel so brakes grab sooner? Like I stated earlier, I need to press the pedal to about 1" from the floor before the brakes will grab. Bled twice...adjusted...etc.

Measure across the mounting face of the booster between the studs, adjust the push rod .931" to .946", this is for the Bendix booster all models except E-350.
For the Bendix booster E-350 only adjust push rod .980" to .995".
